Crafting Unshakeable Cost Leadership in an Age of Disruption

Quantum Fluids university course

Project Overview

The project explores how the SUSAN AI platform can act as an intelligent teaching assistant for advanced university courses. In collaboration with Dr Marilù Chiofalo from the University of Pisa, ourr initiative focuses on supporting the Quantum Liquids master’s programme by providing students with an always-available, conversational learning companion.

SUSAN plays the role of a teaching assistant.

Client Overview

University of Pisa , one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious universities, is internationally recognized for its research in physics and quantum technologies. Dr Chiofalo teaches Quantum Liquids , a core course within the master’s program, and sought innovative ways to increase student engagement and conceptual understanding using AI.

The Challenge

  • University professors face several common challenges:
  • Limited time to assist students individually outside class hours
  • Need to reinforce abstract physics concepts in an accessible, conversational way
  • Desire to help students prepare effectively for exams
  • Continuous demand for 24/7 academic support without adding faculty workload

Our Approach: AI Agentic Learning

  • We used a cross-disciplinary, didactic methodology where connection is the central principle:
  • Linking theory and experiment, and experiment and application
  • Starting each concept from simpler models requiring only bachelor-level competence, then gradually building to complex quantum frameworks
  • Integrating voice-first , interactive dialogue that encourages students to reason aloud
  • Employing concept maps in the absense and visual aids (slides, simulations, and short videos) to reinforce learning.
  • Using AI to mirror the professor’s teaching style while maintaining the rigor of formal physics education

The Solution

Use our SUSAN platform as a voice-enabled teaching assistant that students can access in one click — through the university’s digital learning environment.

The AI assistant:

  • Discusses core and advanced physics concepts conversationally
  • Walks students through theoretical and simulational methods step-by-step
  • Helps them visualize ideas using curated online resources
  • Encourages active learning through question-based sparring sessions
  • Is available 24/7 to clarify doubts and practice exam-style reasoning

Results & Desired Impact

  • The collaboration will evaluate (over time) how SUSAN can:
  • Deepen conceptual understanding of quantum mechanics through dialogue
  • Increase student motivation and confidence before exams
  • Reduce the professor’s repetitive workload while maintaining personal engagement
  • Foster independent learning and curiosity about quantum technologies

Competitive Advantage

  1. Pedagogical Leadership: Emphasize that SUSAN uniquely combines didactic structure and AI agentic tools, unlike generic chatbots.

  2. Technological Edge: Focus on proprietary voice pipeline, multilingual cognition, and modular integration (university LMS, Moodle, etc.).

  3. Scalability & Customization: Highlight that each professor can train SUSAN with course materials, extending to multiple disciplines.
